Encased in Clay

cemetary grave

This poem is written for What do you See challenge over at Willow Poetry.

I died a very long time ago

Encased in clay, broken, total dismay

Now here I stand with head in hands

Staring blankly across the lands

My soul is still alive

Even though my body died

I stand in wait

Wanting to be taken to the gate

Yearning for my soul to be set free

Will it ever be?
