Best Friends

The following poem was written in response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie photo challenge #311.

At the seashore, on a chilly day,

I stare off into the bay

Looking around I see a beautiful sight,

a boy with his dog snuggled up, tight

I wonder to myself what they’re looking for,

or are they here enjoying the shore

Off in the distance, I see a fishing boat

the boy tousles his dog’s fur coat,

as soon as they too see the boat

The boat approaches getting close to the shore,

the boy and the dog get ready to board
